Goldens Bridge is located in the western part of the Town of Lewisboro, adjacent to Interstate 684 and the Croton River. The community was named for Abraham Golden (or Golding), who built a bridge here. First settled in the 1720s, Goldens Bridge emerged as a popular vacation destination along the Croton River with the arrival of the New York and Harlem Railroad in the latter half of the 1800s. Goldens Bridge has maintained a largely rural atmosphere amidst encroaching suburban development in the surrounding communities.
Golden’s Bridge has a Metro-North Train Station via the Harlem Line. It is 43.7 miles from Grand Central Terminal and the average travel time to Grand Central is one hour and nine minutes. The train station is also located near Interstate 684 so many commuters travel to Golden’s Bridge to take the train to New York City. Parking lots are available on both sides of the tracks for easier commuting for residents.
The Katonah-Lewisboro School District serves the community of Golden's Bridge. It has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. These are: Katonah Elementary School, Increase Miller Elementary School, Lewisboro Elementary School, Meadow Pond Elementary School, John Jay Middle School and John Jay High School.
